Heal the skeeters

Instead of trying to vaccinate the human population against malaria, what if you could prevent the mosquitoes from getting it?

British researchers in Kenya found a microbe, Microsporidia MB, that prevents infected mosquitoes from carrying the malaria virus 100 percent of the time.

“The microbe can be passed between adult mosquitoes and is also passed from the female to her offspring,” so if they can infect at least 40 percent of mosquitoes in a region, they could make “a significant dent in malaria.”
