A different kind of recycling

A British/South African com­pa­ny is set­ting up shop in California: It’s tak­ing restau­rant waste, feed­ing it to mag­gots, then freeze dry­ing and sell­ing those mag­gots as pet food.

The process works by … you know, I’m gonna spare you that part. That’s what the link is for. How about sim­ply, “The fast-grow­ing grubs are an effi­cient way to turn garbage into pro­tein, the com­pa­ny said.”

You may now blink twice and say, “Oooooookay.”
