Published April 25, 2020

Antarctica used to be a rainforest, and 40 million years ago it had frogs. Swedish researchers there just found the first fossil skeleton — a helmeted frog, about an inch and a half long. Its descendants still live in Chile.

“Frogs were known from all continents, except Antarctica. And now we know that they lived on all seven, before one of them froze.”
