The news is reporting unemployment at 10.2 percent, but as always, that’s incorrect.
The actual number, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
- 153,975,000 Americans in the workforce
- 15,700,000 collecting unemployment benefits
- 5,995,000 who want a job but have used up their unemployment benefits
Total unemployed / workforce = 14.8 percent
(That’s 21.7 million unemployed out of 154 million total.)
