Virginia election chuckles — McDonnell and Deeds

Published 10/23/09

Two things that made me laugh.

1. Bumper sticker: “Barefoot Women for McDonnell.”

(Background, for non-Virginians: In his Master’s thesis in 1989, McDonnell implied that women shouldn’t hold jobs, although he is now “fully supportive of women working in the workplace.”) Still, I don’t know what to make of the sticker. Is she pro-McDonnell and saying she’s comfortable staying home, or is she pro-Deeds and making a subtle point? No clue.

2. Robocall from Creigh Deeds that went to voice mail, which Google Voice transcribed:

I don’t know what your with creepy. It’s for governor. I know how important this rapist. If you could give me a moving forward and I know the work with you on the ground makes a big difference. The Washington Post and doors creepy. It’s great to get. I have record of achievement as a legislator Election Day, Tuesday, December 3rd. But we need your help in Virginia today. Call me at the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd between 6 and 7 PM. Developer credence for governor.

(Heh. From now on, if someone searches for “Creigh Deeds” and “rapist,” they’ll find this page.)

I wish I had saved the McCain and Obama transcriptions I got. They were pretty funny, too.
