Why didn’t they have this when I was a kid? The Crayola camcorder. Uses AA batteries and an SD memory card — i.e., standard and expandable. Connects to the computer (via USB) or direct to the TV. And it gets great reviews; it’s the best camcorder to buy if you want one for a kid. For $60, how can you go wrong?
PS: Yes, I know Fisher-Price made one in the ’80s that shot in black and white and used standard audio cassettes. But 1) that was after I was a kid, and 2) this is frakking incredible.

I agree and I often have this thought with a lot of things kids have these days that we didn’t. Like the McDonald’s PlayPlace and how there is one at like EVERY McDonald’s now. Or the advent of the backyard trampoline! I even feel that way, to some degree, regarding how accepted it is to be different nowadays, as compared to when I was in school.
Cheated! I feel cheated! ;-)
