If I were to tell you that Sid and Marty Krofft were creating a feature-film version of Land of the Lost starring Will Ferrell, what would you say?
Perhaps “Arrrrrrrgggggghhhhh”?

I actually heard about this while listening to Alice Cooper on the radio. He expressed similar sentiments, although apparently someone sent him a life-sized model of a sleestak. I’ll take one of those please.
I’d rather watch the old series (which I had mixed feelings about anyway – yeah yeah, they found a portal to a time/place where there are humanoid lizards which speak english, a miniature wookie, and no modern amenities – it was great, but how come their clothes never wore out?) than the movie.

My only consolations are the same ones I hold close about Lost In Space and other such sad wastes: a.) In another five years or so we’ll start seeing pirate versions with better editing and added scenes. CGI and low-cost video production are our friends.
b.) In another fifteen or twenty years maybe somebody else will make another authorized attempt with better results.
But even so, damn. I know that it was a goofy show with all the logical coherence of a bad acid trip but I cared about that fershlugginah thing when I was a kid. Afaic, the storyline of the lone survivor of the original Sleestak civilization, marooned among the pathetic barbaric descendents of his people was damned affecting. It certainly helped me learn the concept that not all problems are fixable.
Oh, well.
