Quick question for my readers

Published 6/23/08

I’d be grateful if you’d tell me how you usually read this site.

Basically, I want to know if you go directly to an entry (via RSS feed) or whether you go to the home page and read from there.

(If this is your first time here, I’m guessing you went to a specific entry’s page, not the home page.)

Just use the comments. And thanks.

Google Reader.

Then open up the page if it’s interesting.

I second Trae – scan the feed via RSS, then dig deeper if you manage to get my attention.

OK, so far so good. I’m mulling over a home-page redesign, figuring that most people go directly to individual entries, either via RSS or from a link on another site.

There are some (e.g., my dad) who have bookmarked the home page, though, so I have to keep that in mind. But I think most home-page visitors are people who are thinking “Who the hell is this jerk?” so maybe that page should focus on answering that.

Or maybe not. Who knows?

It was about 9 months ago …
I think I was image searching for “kittens.”
I browsed more than that.
I’ve bookmarked your homepage since & go there directly on a somewhat regular basis.

I’ve been reading you for years. Always through the homepage. But I like your counter, too, for it makes me smile every time I pop in. :)

I stumbled upon your site while looking for information on cheating in the 21st century. (I’m a 45-year-old college student…got any articles on that subject?) Well anyway, I found your article (which was of great help, thank you very much!), but then I kept going deeper and deeper into this site and way off my suject
:O( I love your writing style! I am definitely going to “bookmark you”! (Hope it doesn’t leave a bruise! LOL) Jane:O)

Stumbles across the article on “disturbingly useful health tips” and went to the home page from there. Now bookmarked. Thanks.

Homepage. I’ve gotten overloaded on RSS, and tend to skip far more through a reader, so I go directly to the home page of the writers’ sites I am most interested in. Typically, when I identify a site because of the author (you, Bill at DubiousQuality, Cory Doctorow at boingboing, Blue of BluesNews), I go to the page in my browser. When I read a site just because of the content, I usually RSS it.

Stumbled (the best thing to ever happen to the web browser) upon the health tips page and started reading through the archives.
For future visits-bookmarked home page.
Excellent reading!

Home page. I have not gone to RSS feeds yet. I still like the visual aesthetic of websites/home pages. :-)

And who the hell ARE you anyway?!
